Elijah; Elias in some KJV New Testament passages.

In 1 Kings 17, Elijah addresses Ahab and announces a drought. The text then sends him to the brook Cherith. It does not introduce a long family history or give a date of birth. Those details should not be filled in from the meaning of his name.

The Mount Carmel prayer in 1 Kings 18 makes the name's religious setting plain. Elijah asks that the people know that Yahweh is God. The account contrasts that confession with the worship of Baal. This is a narrative setting for the name, rather than proof that the name itself causes faith or power.

Elias is an English form found in the KJV New Testament. It is useful for looking up references, but it is not a second prophet whenever it occurs. The surrounding speaker and passage must still decide the reference. Later claims about Elijah's return require their own cited texts.
